Paper charts are static and do not change over time to represent the real seabed below.  These maps cover large areas often missing the smaller details in the bottom topography which influence fish behaviour. PISCATUS^3D uses its BathymetryNow™ technology to create a 3D model of the sea floor as you move over it in your boat. Each time your vessel recieves a new peice of data, PISCATUS^3D stores this point in a database and next time you return to the area it is already mapped out for you.

Compare PISCATUS^3D to having only an echo sounder

If you fish using only an echo sounder and you see a small dip on the display, you many think it would be a good place to have a look for fish.  Imagine that you place your gear over this dip. PISCATUS^3D lets you see what is ahead

If you have used PISCATUS^3D to map an area previously you will get a realtime display of the boats position as it moves and you can see the underwater features you are heading for. This can be useful if you a wanting to find the top of a rock or the edge of a reef.

PISCATUS^3D lets you see your plotter marks and lines in the 3D environment

When PISCATUS^3D is used next to C-Plot Pro or SeaPlot Pro, fishing information like marks and lines can be transferred to PISCATUS^3D and displayed in the 3D terrain model.  By doing this you can start to see why some marks or lines were always better than others by the way they match the shape of the sea bed below. Now that you can see the seabed shape you create your marks and lines directly within PISCATUS^3D and transfer them back to the plotter which will steer you directly to them.

PISCATUS^3D also uses its detailed sea bed models to generate contour lines which can be displayed on the plotter and updated as often as required. This gives the user a detailed 2D contour map of any area.

The mouse latitude/longitude position is also shared between the two programs. This feature makes it easy to work between both plotter and 3D screens and identify featrues and positions more readily.

PISCATUS^3D is a simple plotter

PISCATUS^3D can also be used as a simple plotter for steering down the deepest parts of channels or storing information in marks or lines. It also has many range and bearing displays and a heading vector on the boat.

PISCATUS^3D is designed as a fishing productivity tool and should not be used to replace a plotter if required on a vessel. There are no charts in PISCATUS^3D and it would be unsafe to be used for general navigation.

PISCATUS^3D has built in data security

All data stored in PISCATUS^3D is encrypted and can only be used on your computer. This gives you the security that the data you have collected of your fishing grounds can not be stolen and used by someone else.

PISCATUS^3D allows you to share data amongst your fleet

FleetManager is a tool  that gives the owner of a fishing company complete ownership and control of their fleet’s detailed maps of company fishing grounds. It enables the vessel owner to maintain an onshore backup of their fleet’s data, integrate data from the fleet into a more comprehensive map of the fishing grounds, and re-export these improved maps back out to vessels in their fleet. Data security is maintained throughout this process as the data remains encrypted to prevent data falling into the wrong hands.

FleetManager includes a PISCATUS^3D program for viewing data from the entire fleet. By filtering and grooming the data received from vessels, errors from some vessels can be removed and are not repeated throughout the fleet. As a result, improved, more detailed bathymetry maps are available and confidence in shared data is gained. This fleet data can also be very useful when training a skipper on new grounds they have not fished, planning fleet fishing strategies and provide quick database backups to a vessel in a time of emergency.

FleetManager accepts data from both PISCATUS^3D DeepSea Pro and Inshore Pro and will allow sharing between the two products.
